This concert was simply AMAZING! this was my first concert and im so glad it was with the kings! They did a great job and Caleb sounded great even though he was sick. I was a little shocked that it was that crazy down in the pit and i thank the two guys that saved me from the chaos of the moshing. The kings looked great and played better then i could of imagined! Teaper Jean Girl, Trani, Arizona, Spiral Staircase ,and Charmer rocked beyond words! The people of Phillie must have been feeling pretty damn good that night cuz the kings were in town! I can't wait until they come around again and maybe this time you guys can come hit up Washington or Baltimore!!

The Gate The Great and My Favorite!
Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 10:32 pm - FoolForRealRock
So the chance came again to see my favorite band play live and I really tried not to get my hopes up too much about getting a good spot. The last time I saw them was at the Decade of Rock concert in AC and before that I was two rows from the front at the Borgata Music Box. Spoiled. I didn't think this was going to go so well due to the fact that the Electric Factory is a larger venue. But thanks to all the kooks out doing drugs in the parking lot and taking forever to come in, and thanks to the fact that I'm old enough to drink, we were lucky enough to get THE best spot at the edge of the downstairs bar! The only payoff was that we had to play the gate between the bar and the VIP area. It was fun watching people throw themselves into the VIP area only to get washed back in. I was so afraid that they would try to take my spot at the edge, but the staff kept pushing them back further, which was so freakin' awesome. Not that I was desperate, but the Kings are seriously my favorite band and not because I think they are sexy though they definitely have sex apeal and are handsome guys, but it's all about the music they play, so I'm glad I got to enjoy it from where I was. I got to see my favorite band play, actually SEE them play all night, I couldn't have asked for more.

They played Taper Jean Girl second, I think, which is my first favorite of theirs. They also played My Party - my second favorite, but not Joe's Head. The set was great, they came out on the encore with Knocked Up, perfect song to get us going again. Nathan is fascinating to watch play, as are all the boys. The music sounded so great live, better than ever and the new songs came together very well, I was very impressed. They have really grown as musicians, not only in the quality of their playing, but also with the way they carry themselves on stage - they seem so much more relaxed and loose and more open to the crowd - also, Philly has a tendency to do that to people, I think. We are definitely not the stand-offish owning our own space type of people, we embrace the concert as a whole and we, with the exception of that guy in back of me who kept trying to get in the VIP area, most of us could take a good look around and appreciate the fact that, here are people who are tired of the same old shit. Here are people who love good rock, good soul, good f'in music. Music that makes you move all over, music that has soul, music that makes a statement. It all comes together listening these guys. The fact that they are related makes the rhythm seem much more wholesome and together. They had great energy and presence on stage too. Well, I'm half asleep and rambling on, so that's it for my concert review. Mostly anyone who reads this loves their music anyways, so I won't go into every little detail about every note and chord, haha.
