Loving the Kings of leon and really wanted to see them -and the Killers so instead of going 1 hour away to T in the Park I decided to go to beni for the first time and see them there......I was realy f**ked of big time that with only really wanting to see 2 bands that one of them didnt play after spending almost £3000 on that whole trip....what f**ked me off even more was that all other bands rescheduled but you guys had a 'commitment' in switzerland - well I'm sorry but people came from all over the world to that festival - surley with all that effort from fans they were more important as that festival was only on 4 days in the whole year -you could have gone to switzerland anytime.
I DEMAND FREE FRONT ROW TICKETS FOR THE NEXT SCOTTISH GIG!!
Least you's can do to fill a void in our lives....
And also for the record - Britain is Scotland, England and Wales so we are British not english!!! Just pointing that out as you called 'english' on awards show!!
DONE
hang on guys...

i don't think you guys can post that the cancellation at benicassim was solely in the interest of health and safety. i am completely in agreement with georgie_porgie in that the kings should have come out and apologised for their no-show. i like her have been a massive kings fan ever since youth and young manhood when i saw them at glastonbury in 2003. i think that as headliners they should have told the organisers to f*ck off when told about the weather and played a set anyway. remember that the wind only picked up at like 3 in the morning when they would have been long finished.
at the time i showed completely no respect to the tom tom club, and they should have expected that really...but fair play to them for giving it a shot. kings were the stars of the show and we had to return to the tents without a word from our idols. i cant believe im saying it but there really is a black mark on the KOL name now, i had travelled mainly to see them play. perhaps this is the first sign that the kings have become a bit too big for their own cowboy boots

Hey guys, Yeah I guess I see what you mean, however the promoters weren't that bothered about us as they left us there for almost an hour with no word that noone was coming on. I just think it would have been better if the kings had at least spoken to the crowd even from backstage as then the poor other band that did come out got booed, pretty unfair for them. I wouldn't have wanted them to play, however it would have been nice not have been left waiting there especially as we had only come for the Friday and had missed them in Barca to.Actually the only reason I came ont he site was to see what the Kings had posted regarding the event as we all got an apology for the Barca show but I haven't seen anything about Beni which is why I posted.
Quit your moaning

Elroy126 - Couldnt really have put it better myself - The weather conditions were awful. Paul Weller's set was cut short and he was bitterly disappointed. The rigging and lighting were swaying about all over the place - I for one would not have been keen on playing with that going on above me. I am guessing Tom Tom club do not get the opportunity to go out and play in front of that many people, hence their decision to play - But the KOL management would have a very tough time justifying letting one of the biggest bands on the planet going out and playing in those conditions.
And far be it for me to comment on your circumstances georgie_porgie but if you have been a fan since Youth and Young Manhood, why have you only seen the band twice if you are that much of a fan? I seen them on the Y&YM tour in Nottingham and have seen them 17 times since.
And finally i would just like to ask people exactly what they would have gained from seeing the band actually come out and say they werent gonna play?? - Not sure i would want to do that

I think your comments georgie_porgie are a little over the top there...having been a fan since the very 1st time they set foot in a little underground pub in glasgow (barfly) i knew that the sound and the energy that the band produced that night would project them onto bigger and better things. I have never missed a kings of leon show in glasgow and will hopefully continue this trend when they return. As you said you have been a fan since the beginning, to quote you: "been a fan since first album youth and young manhood" and also you commented on having seen them twice. Surely having seen them twice you understand the quality of show that they put on, and surely missing them this time has only heightened your eagerness to see them again...i no for one i can't wait til they play again in glasgow! As for an apology, the band did apologise saying they would have rescheduelled but, as you are aware, they are a band in demand at the moment with a busy tour scheduelle and their gear was already en route to their next stop in switzerland.
I too was at benicassim this year, and i too bought the ticket with the main intention of seeing the kings of leon, but having been to benicassim this year, i can honestly say yes i am upset the kings of leon never played, but i am not majorly disappointed. The weather that night was horrific, any band taking to any stage or tent in that wind would have been at risk, watched a bit of paul weller, but couldn't really focus on him too well with the fire going on to our right and bits of the stage coming loose. It was a dangerous environment for not just the bands but also the crowd, so organisers were actually thinking of your safety when they cancelled the show, not just to be spoilsports. I do agree however that the benicassim organisers were wrong to put on tom tom club, a mass of fans waiting to see one band are not going to take to kindly to another band coming on and it must have been a pretty hostile environment to be thrown into to...being in a band myself i would not like to be the band that had to take to that stage, and for this i would be upset at the festival organisers not the kings of leon!
However as i said, the kings of leon being cancelled did not take anything away from what was a great week for me where i got to meet lots of new people and have a great time, how many festivals can you say you get to sit and relax and enjoy the sun at the beach or at the water park by day and by night get to see some of the musics finest bands from all over the globe. For those who are disappointed because they bought the ticket just for kings of leon then i am sorry but a festival is about more than just one band, unless obv you bought just a friday ticket so you then have an excuse to be aggrieved, but for those who didn't and bought full tickets this should only have been a glitch in what would have been a great week if you wanted to make it one....which i did, and would definitely do it all over again!!
Long live the followills

Came from London to Barcelona to see them and couldn't, then again to Benicassim, not their fault but felt really sorry for Tom Tom club, pretty dissapointed. Couldn't they have reorganised like Maximo park?
Let us down!

We were in Beni too. Came all the way from Slovenia to see only Kings of Leon and ended up being really disappointed.
They could have at least came on stage.
The reason for us to go all the way to Spain was cuz they haven't performed here (not even Italy, Austria or Croatia). In my opinion they have a strong fan base here, so we hope to see them someday!
But still what happened in beni really knocked them down on my list.
majorly disappointed.

been a fan since first album youth and young manhood, along with myself many other hundreds possibly even thousands of people who attended the festival bought tickets due to kol being a headliner, seen them twice and was eagerly awaiting them to play in benicassim. left thousands of fans waiting at main stage for over hour and half not knowing what was happening. Only to hear tom tom club come on and play instead, not even bothering to come on stage and apologise for their decision to back out. Some people say kings of leon were forced to back out due to the weather conditions if so why did tom tom club make the effort to come on instead and give the disappointed fans something at least? Kings of leon really disappointed thousands of people, been afan for many many years yet their actions or lack of actions have really made me have a change of opinion on the band who i and many others before greatly appreciated and respected their raw talent which for many years was not truly recognised andpraised.
Would most definatley think twice in future about spending my hard earned money to go and support the followills never thoguht id be saying that. Think it is horrendous the way the band did not even bother to apologise to the thousands and thousands standing waiting for hours. All i can say is that i am majorly, majorly disappointed, what a let down.
