A brief summary of forthcoming KoL, according to an article in this weeks NME..(28 March '09)
"KINGS OF LEON WRITING 'BLUESY' NEW ALBUM.
Caleb Followill says he's working on new songs, but flu and jet lag have inspired an unexpected direction."
The summary...
So it seems the kings have already begun work on the follow up to OBTN...Apparently they've earned themselves a year off, but they're liking the buzz from this album and are writing. Good news for us! In the following paragraphs, Caleb explains that he and Matthew have been writing new songs together because they can't sleep. Caleb states "We've been jetlagged and ill. We've been waking up at five in the morning and teaching each other how to play slide guitar, so i feel sorry for our neighbours." He then goes on to say that the band have given each other nicknames. Matt's is Willie Brown and Caleb's is Barcelona Stacks. He also tells the NME that Matt has a red guitar from Spain that he has named Spanish Rose.
Caleb also says in the article that if it had been up to him, 'Sex On Fire' wouldn't have been on OBTN.
So we have a new direction from the boys. Which way will it go though? Will it kill the boys' careers? (i think not) Or will it propel them to a new level? Could something be made of this nausea filled, jetlagged warped, bluesy fifth album?
We'll see in due course i guess
Leave you responses as blog comments please! I'm interested in your opinions...
BTW, if you buy NME to read the article to it's full extent, there's a rather nice picture of Caleb too.
If you can't afford NME, i'll quite happily type you the whole article onto a blog cos i have no life and quite enjoy typing
Call me sad.
love, Love

I’m so f*cking excided unbelievable… I can’t wait, I think that the new album would be amazing, I love the idea … And I don’t think that is surprising that they have chosen to go in that direction cause they had that kind of influence, previously as young teenagers…
The hole concept of it's similar to the old stuff in a sense, the style goes with the flow, but on the other hand so much more grown up …
