...So one day you buy a record, you get it home and look down the track listing and see a song thats 10 minutes...most people would skip thinking 'shit thats to f*cking long'....whats wrong with you people they r there for a reason
No, but seriously...give these mammoth tunes a chance, it will be worth it. Below is a list of my fav 8 minute plus songs.
1. 'Desolation Row' by Bob Dylan (11:20).
A psychedelic tale of biblical preportions. Utter Brilliance from Start to eventual End.
2. Marquee Moon' by Television (10:47).
Punk marathon with the best bridge...EVER!
3. 'Oh Well' by Fleetwood Mac (9:03).
A simple tale of a man who is in the belief that he doesn't measure up to the image of God.....but 'Oh Well'.......and the riff......*dribbles on the keyboard*.....is the best.
4. 'The End' by The Doors (11:43).
Jim and the Band that their best..........................OM.
5. 'American Pie' by Don McLean (8:32).
'All American tale'.....but don't let that stop....its really infectious.
6.
'Long Road Out of Eden' by The Eagles (10:13).
As a rule, most comebacks are utter w*nk, but this tune goes from strength to strength. And the solo......for want of a better word...Orgasmic.
7. 'The Stars are Projectors' by Modest Mouse (8:47).
....The Last 3 minutes defined music in 2000.
8. 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond (I-V)' by Pink Floyd (13:31).
A fitting tribute to a musical lunatic...with some of David Gilmour's greatest solos.
Plus its my Mum's fav song.
9. I am the Resurrection' by The Stone Roses (8:14).
Perfect balance of rock 'n' roll and 'Madchester rave'...plus the end instrumental take you up, down and side to side...'Ave It!
10.'Hallogallo' by NEU! (9:47).
Its German and its long....no its not a weird porn film.
